Union Club Committees
Become more involved in your club by joining a committee. This is a great way to gain leverage from your membership and build relationships both personally and professionally. Each committee's purpose is to connect you with a different constituency within the membership.
Admissions Committee:
The Union Club Admissions Committee consists of 9 members appointed by the Board of Trustees in conjunction with the club’s by-laws and meets once a month (excepting August) to review and approve member candidates.
Board of Trustees:
The Union Club Board of Trustees consists of 12 elected members in compliance with the club’s by-laws and addresses official club business, including election of new members. The board meets once a month (excepting August) with an annual meeting for all members in May.
Arts and Culture Committee:
This committee consists of members who are interested in art and all things aesthetically pleasing. They meet when scheduled and plan events and enhancements to further the club’s important cultural aspects that members love and expect. Cleveland Business Leaders (CBL) Committee:
Consisting of members under the age of fifty years old, this group of energetic members meets every third Friday of the month and is dedicated to fostering the development of leadership, the engagement of members and the encouragement of progressive thought. The committee certainly meets expectations with the very successful events they sponsor. Engaging Women's Committee:
This committee consists of women members who like to be active and promotes an environment for women to network and mentor through organized professional and social events. They plan enjoyable events for the purpose of meeting and networking with other women who are both members and non-members of the Union Club. Finance and Audit Committee:
In accordance with the club’s by-laws, this standing committee meets once a month to assist with the club’s financial matters as directed by the Board of Trustees.
Food and Beverage Committee:
The Food & Beverage Committee consists of club members interested in maintaining the high quality of food and related services offered by the club. These food lovers meet quarterly to discuss menus, food & wines, review pricing, etc. They also host the extremely popular food and wine pairings held quarterly. Their goal is to become more knowledgeable about food, its preparation, service and cost. House Committee:
This historic committee meets quarterly and is responsible for the upkeep, renovations and major purchases to ensure that the club maintains the beautiful integrity of the building. Currently they are focusing on the upgrade work for the 4th floor and newly acquired parking lot.
Membership Committee:
This committee consists of enthusiastic members dedicated to keeping club membership strong and healthy. They usually meet and discuss improvements to encourage member usage and new members. Seniors' Committee:
The “Over The Hill Gang” (as they like to be called) consists of all age groups.Their mission statement is “to encourage our senior members to become more engaged in club activities and to promote intergenerational dialogue within the club.” If you are interested in joining, please contact General Manager Claudio Caviglia or his assistant, Bonnie Hershaw.
The Union Club Foundation:
A separate entity from the Union Club, the Foundation was organized in 2005, and plays a vital role in the enhancement to the Union Club of Cleveland. The Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity, is dedicated to the development of the community’s interest in the arts, to the collection, maintenance, preservation, and display of fine arts, and to the preservation of historic buildings, such as The Union Club.
